Fantasy or Non-Fiction at Giraffe Manor?
After days of trekking through misty mountains with gorilla naturalists and PhDs, observing majestic silverback kings emerge from the foliage just feet away, and after long, golden afternoons on safari, the rhythm of the trip shifted. We arrived at Giraffe Manor, where the pace slowed but the magic permeates the effervescent air.
The first morning, we woke to gentle taps on the window. Two giraffes, Polly and Parrot, impossibly tall and impossibly close, came to say hello. Breakfast wasn't just coffee and fruit, it’s sharing continental breakfast with creatures whose whimsical eyelashes wink against your cheek and tongues lick your forehead as they brush by you for a bite of your crumpet. The manor itself felt timeless, with ivy-covered walls, high windows, and quiet gardens.
Each day unfolded like a dream. Tea on the lawn as giraffes wandered past. Conversations with staff about conservation work. Evenings lit by firelight and the sound of the night beyond the walls with Casablanca style- jazz wafting through the jasmine enhanced night air. And even, with such enchanting friends surrounding our every moment, between the dew drops of stillness, there were excursions! Most notably, one into Nairobi’s art studios, and another high-point, meeting the teams working to protect endangered species.
After the raw exhilaration of the safari and the gorilla hikes, Giraffe Manor is where everything settled and created a place in our hearts, a whole garden if you will, of memories, life highlights, treasured breaths and giraffe kisses. It’s a place where wildness met elegance for us, and for a few weeks, as we filmed and documented, we lived inside that story. Hope you visit too!
